FAQ
For a site called "Horror Diva", why do you have so many articles that have nothing to do with Horror or Divas?

When I set out to start building this site, it was my aim to dedicate the site to a more woman-friendly (somewhat feminist) examination of the horror genre for the purpose of, hopefully, enlisting some new female fans. So, I started building the site around some academic essays that I'd written on just the subject of feminism and horror films. However, feminism is a broad area of study that can include many different ideas, theories, and attitudes; so the focus of my discussions branched into wider topics around cultural identity, gender, and activism. Further, when taking an academic look at the horror genre, it is also natural to include the uncanny, the strange, and the disturbing since they all have a similar psychological effect. So even though not all of the movies, books, games, or toys that I discuss fit easily into the horror genre, they all contain an element of the bizarre and disturbing.

But above all, the purpose of this site is to reach out to other Horror Divas and to find new Horror Divas that have yet to come out of the horror closet.

Who the hell is "Gauntgirl"?

Why, she's the webmaster of course! Check out the webmaster bio page for more details.

I'm a film student and I think your film essays are cool. Can I quote them?

No, I would prefer that you didn't. It is much more beneficial to your academic writing if you research texts published in print. After all, most professors aren't terribly trusting of essays that exist only on the web. I suggest that you check out the books listed in my bibliographies for sources worth quoting. If you would like help with any of these texts or if you need footnotes for any of my essays, please feel free to drop me an email and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Will you review my independent film and/or book?

You know, I've been sent a number of indy books and videos to review and, to be honest, most of them sucked. But I'm a softy and I feel bad about giving a negative review to a film that someone bothered to send me. So, please be advised that if you ask me to review something, there is a very good chance that you won't get a good review. If you still want me to review something for you, you'll have to send me a hard copy via snail mail (i.e. VHS, DVD, book, etc...). However, I will not review books that are only available online (I like to read in bed). To talk more about this, send me an email.

If you are from a major movie studio or publishing house, feel free to send me whatever you would like reviewed - I have no qualms over giving a negative review to the big guys.

Will you add my site to your affiliate list?

Possibly... If your website is dedicated to the horror genre (possibly with a feminine slant) and is updated regularly, I will consider adding your site as an affiliate. As an affiliate, your link (a text link, not a banner) will be visible on my home page as well as on several key pages throughout the site. In return, I would ask that you display my link in a prominent location on your home page. If you are interested, send me an email with a description of your website and I'll let you know if/when I add the link.

Will you add my link to your site?

Possibly... If your website is dedicated to the horror genre (possibly with a feminine slant) and is updated regularly, I will consider adding your site to my links page. Send me an email with a decription of your website and I'll let you know if/when I add the link. Of course, I'll expect you to add my link to your site in return.

How can I let you know what I think about the site?

Well, you could fill out my short feedback form or, if you don't feel like doing that, you could just send me an email. Your opinion is highly appreciated!
